  Rosenstein Park

Rosenstein Park is regarded as the largest English park in Southwest Germany. Old trees and spacious meadows give the quiet park a special touch where visitors are invited to go on long walks.

The park was designed between the years 1824 and 1840 under the supervision of King Wilhelm I of Württemberg. He also engaged in the construction of the Rosenstein Palace (today the Museum of Natural History) located on the south side of the park.

Giovanni Salucci was hired by the king to build the Palace and after his wife, Queen Katharina, died, Giovanni Salucci also built the Rotenberg Chapel according to the wishes of King Wilhelm I. The Museum of Natural History together with its zoological-botanical collection is housed there today.

Rosenstein Park is part of Stuttgart’s “Green U". The park also borders Wilhelma, a botanical/zoological garden, the two natural history museums near the Löwentor (lion gate) and the previously mentioned Palace.
